We have arrived....

We originally started our family blog back about a year ago when we took our family vacation to Anna Maria Island in Florida. We have continued this blog however we haven't written as much as we would probably like to. Well we are back again in Anna Maria and thought we would share some of our fun vacation adventures with you. We had a great drive down to Florida. You may think driving in a mini van with three children under the age of 5 would be awful, but our kids did amazing. They watched movies and slept almost the whole way. It was awesome and pretty uneventful besides two traffic jams and Micah's late night idea to get off at a completely deserted exit to stop at the only gas station off the exit.... it may have actually be thee only building off that exit in Georgia. Anyway, as we pulled into this gas station at midnight we were greeted by three cop cars surrounding another car and one side of the gas station parking lot. Needless to say, I didn't let us stick around long to see what happened next! We arrived here this morning and stopped to visit our good friends Corrie and Phil and their daughter for a little bit and then we headed to Anna Maria. We arrived here around 11:30 and immediately went swimming in the pool! The kids had a blast. :) After we swam in the pool we went across the street to check out the ocean. Check out this video of the kids playing on the beach:

Nothing much else happened today except a whole lot of unpacking, cleaning out the van, grocery shopping, and of course more swimming. One last interesting thing happened though...

If you know me, your probably know I have a huge phobia of BIRDS. I hate them. They totally creep me out. I hate seagulls especially. Well, today I found a new found love for Pelicans as well. After dinner we went on a walk as a family down the pier. When we got to the end of the dock we watched this little boy catch a fish. He was so excited. :) I thought it was pretty cute so I was not paying attention to my surroundings when a HUGE and I mean HUGE Pelican came swooping past my head to try to steal the fish from the child. Micah thought the pelican hit my head it was that close... I screamed of course, danced in a few circles and then we left the dock. If you don't believe me how big this think was check out this video Micah took after the bird almost took my head off.

We heard it rained a ton in Michigan today! I hope all of you who ran the River Bank still had a great time! I think I am going to run on the beach this week in the mornings :) We will post more from Florida adventures tomorrow hopefully it won't be about birds again. ( I am getting out my camera tomorrow too! :) ) Hope all is well!
