Last weekend my sister and her husband stayed at our house all weekend and watched our kids so Micah and I could go on a much needed getaway for our 7th wedding anniversary! It is sooo hard to believe that we have been married for 7 years already! Wow! We went to Traverse City for our weekend getaway! It was my year to plan the trip or outing. I had chatted with my neighbors across the street Les and Carol and decided on Traverse City about 2 months ago. I hadn't told Micah where we were going. It was quite fun keeping the secret from him. His guessing for where we were going ranged from Mexico to Las Vegas to Niagara Falls to the Mall of America to Chicago. I think he was pleasantly surprised when I finally revealed to him where we were going on our trip on Friday morning. Here is a brief summary of our trip:
We stayed at the The Grand Beach Hotel which was super nice. We had a hot tub in our room and a balcony overlooking the bay! We got there on Friday and went shopping all downtown, ate at Bubba's for lunch (AWESOME hamburger place and they serve Tater TOTS with their burgers!!!!!) and then shopped some more and then ate at Red Mesa Grill for dinner (which was across the street from our hotel) It is a pretty authentic Mexican Restaurant! Also very nice! Micah said they had awesome Tuna!!! I ended up getting sick on Friday night, so we spent the evening in the hot tub in our room relaxing and then we watched the movie Cape Fear on TV. On Saturday we went up Mission Point peninsula and visited all 7 wineries We started out our day by going all the way up the coast on Bluff Drive and looked at all the houses and then went to the light house. Then we drove back down the middle of the peninsula and visited the wineries. They were beautiful and it was a very relaxing day! Chateau Chantal was my favorite winery! After that we ate dinner at the Apache Trout and Grill which was also really really good but kind of expensive!!! Later that evening we went back and went swimming and then went to the brand New Turtle Creek Casino up there where we won 25 bucks and met a guy that had lost 5,000 dollars that night and about 27,000 the night before that! Amazing. That would have covered our house payments for like 3 years! WOW I now have an understanding as to why gambling can be a huge problem for some people!
Anyway, we left on Sunday after we did some shopping to buy popcorn for the kiddo's and had lunch at this place called the Dish downtown which had great sandwiches!
It was soooo wonderful to be able to get away with Micah and to spend "adult only" time with him. It was the first time we had gotten away for a night without our kids together since before we got pregnant with Sophia! We are so thankful that my sister was willing to take the kids for us. We are also so grateful to be back home with the munchkins! :) Here are a few pictures from our trip! We don't have a single picture of us together though....
In this picture I am actually taking a picture of me standing in front of a window at the winery called Chateau Chantal (my favorite). I thought I turned out really really cool!

Lake Michigan, the water has done waaaay down, it is scary how low the water is....

What a fun weekend! I'm glad you were able to get away. I really can't believe it's been seven years! I only met Micah barely 10 years ago when I started college! And I've only known you for not quite two years. Sophia was just a tiny baby at Jim and Apryl's wedding. :)
My brother and his wife were married out in the lawn where you were standing at Chateau Chantal. It was such a beautiful setting. I'm glad you enjoyed it there too.
Thank God for great sisters!
